His Story

If anyone knows Katie and Joe, they know that their story is really God's story.  He has been in every aspect of their relationship from the beginning.  In September 2005, Pastor Robin Munshaw from Westgate Chapel informed Joe that someone at church was interested in him.  Finding out that it was the beautiful Katie Watkins, Joe decided to e-mail her.  After a plethora of e-mail exchanges, Joe and Katie went on their first date.  After a few dates, they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend.  They went on several dates a week, went to a missions trip in India together, and enjoyed each other immensely.  The beauty of this relationship is simply its purity--Katie and Joe had never had a significant other in their life before.

After a breakup that ended their relationship in April 2006, it seemed that their story had come to an end.  But God had something different in mind.  He had just begun their relationship.  It was during this breakup where they both sought the Lord fervently and trusted in Him that God has the best in mind for both of them. 

Finally, in October 2006, when Joe moved to Washington D.C., they began a new friendship over the phone and e-mail, and in June 2007 when Joe returned from eight months away from home, Katie and Joe started their relationship again.  After several months of reestablishing goals and common interests, the two fell in love. 

Then, on April 27, 2008, Joe flew out to Hawaii to surprise Katie while she was vacationing.  He not only surprised her, he proposed to her in the North Shore of Oahu.  God moved in every way to make that moment special, and He has always had His hand over the two of them.
